Professor Jian Xigao was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2013 and that of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials in 2018. He is currently Director of the Institute of Polymer Materials, Dalian University of Technology and Director of Liaoning High Performance Resin Engineering Research Center.
Professor Jian has long been engaged in the research of polymer synthesis, modification and its processing, and is also the principal scientist of several major national R&D projects. Starting from molecular structure design, he has successfully developed and industrialized a series of new high temperature resistant high performance engineering plastics containing heteronaphthalene biphenyl structure. This innovation, being high temperature resistant and dissolvable, overcame the drawbacks in conventional materials and is widely used in aerospace, car manufacturing and shipbuilding, electronics and electrical, petroleum, environmental protection, etc.
