Members of China-Belarus University Alliance Got Together in DUT

On May 22, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Liaoning Province, the 2024 General Conference of the China-Belarus University Alliance and the Founding Conference of the China-Belarus University Alliance Cluster Mechanism, hosted by Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, were held in Dalian. Chen Jie, the vice-minister of the Ministry of China’s Education, Andrei Ivanets, minister of the Ministry of Belarus’ Education, and Wang Libo, the vice-governor of Liaoning province attended the conference and made a speech. Xiang Changle, the secretary of the CPC DUT Committee, presided over the meeting. Jia Zhenyuan, the president of Dalian University of Technology, and Vadim Bogush, the rector of Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, delivered speeches as leaders of the leading universities of the alliance. 44 Chinese universities, including Peking University and Harbin Institute of Technology, and 17 Belarusian universities, including Belarusian State University and Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, participated in the conference.

This conference shaded high light on 6 areas including digital technology, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, policy and management, dialogues among civilization and Chinese-Belarusian language development and regional cooperation. All these 6 clusters mentioned above constitute China-Belarus University Cooperation Clusters. It was an important measure to go deep and go solid the education cooperation of China-Belarus University Alliance which was established in November 2023.

Chen Jie said that the China-Belarus University Alliance is a solid platform jointly created by the two countries for the educational exchange and cooperation of first-class universities in the field of education, which will further help the bilateral cooperation to close to practise, improve the quality and efficiency, and accelerate the development. It is expected that the alliance will play an important role in creating a new situation of China-Belarus university cooperation, improving the new cooperation mechanism, and shaping a new future with digital cooperation.

Ivanets said that with the efforts of the leaders of China and Belarus, great potential has been formed for the development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education, and the active implementation of the "Belt and Road" education co-construction will bring great benefits to the two peoples, and it is expected that the universities of the two countries will achieve new results in training innovative talents establishing joint educational and scientific research institutions, and promoting exchanges among young people.

Wang Libo said that the universities of the two countries should increase the "frequency" of exchanges and cooperation through the platform provided by the alliance, dig "depth" in talent training, broaden "breadth" in cultural integration, deepen talent training and expand cultural integration, so that the alliance will become a new bond of friendly relations between China and Belarus and become a new model of international education exchange and cooperation.

Jia Zhenyuan said that the alliance cluster mechanism has created a new dimension for inter-university cooperation, and Dalian University of Technology will continue to work with the Belarus secretariat and the leading universities of the alliance cluster to do a good job in the top-level planning of alliance work, and continue to help the in-depth development of cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in the field of higher education.

Bogush said expanding cooperation in the fields of education and culture will enable the people of Belarus and China to better understand each other. It is hoped that the universities of the two countries will cooperate closely within the framework of the China-Belarus University Union and make contributions to the development of Belarus and China.

The China-Belarus University Union, led by Dalian University of Technology and Belarus State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, was established in Minsk, Belarus, on November 21, 2023. The alliance, which consists of 45 Chinese universities and 41 Belarusian universities, aims to promote higher education exchanges and academic research cooperation between the two countries and create a new model of international education cooperation. In the afternoon of 22th May, six clusters held parallel forums. Experts and scholars from universities in China and Belarus exchanged experiences and opinions on hot issues such as human society development, digitization of higher education, and people-to-people exchanges.
