January 15- DUT held a seminar for professional certification and comprehensive evaluation in the lecture hall of Bochuan Library. Present at the meeting were Jian Xigao, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, related leaders and about 300 teachers. The meeting was chaired by Liu Zhijun, director of Development Center.
Prof. Guo Xinwen, dean of School of Chemical Engineering and Prof. Sheng Xianjun, vice dean of School of Electrical Engineering respectively gave reports about professional certification for engineering education. They briefed the process of certification for Chemical Engineering and Technology and Electrical Engineering and Automation by international observers. They also shared some reflections and summarized the achievements and problems. This experience helped teachers understand the teaching ideas better and find the problems which could promote the quality of talent training.
Prof. Chen Youxi, leader of Electrical engineering and automation introduced the structure of the achievement scale for graduation requirement for engineering education and specified seven steps to achieve the requirement.
So far, 17 majors of DUT have passed the certification and evaluation for engineering education. In October, 2014, DUT’s Chemical Engineering and Technology and Electrical Engineering and Automation accepted the site inspection by the expert group from Association of Chinese engineering education professional certification. International experts were also involved. All the faculty from the related faculties and schools were well recognized by the association due to their careful preparation and joint efforts.
During the years of 2012 and 2013, DUT’s 29 majors have been involved in the professional certification ofLiaoningProvinceand gained excellent results. 13 majors such as Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation won the first prize and 7 majors such as Computer Science and Technology won the second prize. In 2014, 14 majors were involved in the certification ofLiaoningProvinceand 65 majors were involved in the evaluation of the school.
This seminar was of great help not only for summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of the past work but also for renewing the teaching ideas and making a better plan for the future work.
