"Post-80" moral models talk about the ideal with "post-95" freshmen

March 22 -- On the evening of March 22ndat 18:30, the fifth "Zhenshan Experts' Lecture" of Faculty of Chemical, Environmental and Biological Science and Technology is held in Baichuan Lecture Hall. This lecture aims at explaining the meaning of youth, ideal and dream by using historical allusions and tales with the topic— “Youth•Ideal•Dream”. “Post-80” Shao Chunliang, the national moral model and excellent party member, shares his understanding of youth and his expectations to young people with all freshmen. He believes that the younger generation needs to adhere to their ideals and be extraordinary as well as they can.1

Just after 18:00, Shao Chunliang appears in advance with a gray suit. “You are the top 2.7% of all national university students. You are the elite of the elite.” Starting his lecture with a group of specific data, he draws the curiosity and attentions of all attendants. Then he talks about the history of science and technology, and when it comes to modern political situation and current motivational tales, he encourages freshmen to take the responsibility and contribute to our country. 2

The one-hour lecture is quite welcomed by freshmen. Students ask many questions, such as “how to make achievements as an ordinary?”, "how to keep balance in pursuing power and ideal?”, etc. Shao answers with “sticking to a meaningful thing” and “seeking opportunities of management on the basis of a good fundament”. His wisdom brings the hall down with rounds of applause.4

At last, with the music of “A Life with You”, the host sends flowers to Mr. Shao to express gratitude to him. A student says that, through this lecture, he finds his own shortcomings, the lack of vigilance in peace time and adherence in their deep heart, which need to be corrected immediately.3

This lecture helps freshmen to understand the development of DUT andChina, spreading mainstream views of history and positive thoughts about youngsters’ future and our state.
