April 28 -- On April 28th, a ceremony for celebrating Labour Day and awarding model workers and advanced workers is held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Important speech is given respectively by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. Attending the ceremony are Premier Li Keqiang and other senior leaders including Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli. Liu Yun Shan announces “the decision of awarding national modal workers and advanced workers”. There are 2968 model workers and 904 advanced workers awarded at the ceremony, among whom Director of General Education Center of DUT, Professor Meng Changgong is titled as national model worker.
In his speech, Xi praises the recipients and calls on the nation to respect all workers since workers are history makers and fundamental forces on the great march to socialism modernization. He also points out that common workers shall be better linked with the Communist Party of China to achieve accomplishments of Chinese Dream.
Since 2010, with the development of socialism spiritual civilization construction, large quantities of advanced models appear who are pioneering and innovative and are expected to benefit more workers to motivate creativity and foster enthusiasm.
"National model worker", which is elected every five years, is the highest distinction given by our Party and government for Chinese workers. This year, there are 141 people who have won this honorary title in Liaoning Province.
