DUT is awarded at IBM and universities' cooperation annual meeting

May 14 -- 2015 Ministry of Education Annual Meeting of Cooperation Projects between IBM and Universities & 20thAnniversary Ceremony is held in Chongqing. DUT is awarded as “Special Award of 20thAnniversary of IBM Technology Center” and “Best Cooperation Partner”. Niu Jizhen from School of Computer Science and Technology, DUT, wins “Special Award of 20thAnniversary”, as well as Li Fengqi and Lukun from School of Software Technology, DUT win “Excellent Teacher Award”. Luo Zhongxuan, Dean of School of Software Technology, DUT, and Li Fengqi, Deputy Dean of School of Software Technology, DUT, attend the meeting on invitation.

This year’s meeting is themed as “openness, cooperation, and innovation”. About 200 scholars from over 50 universities including Zhou Xuhong, President of Chongqing University, Gong Ke, President of Nankai University, Peng Xinyi, Managing Vice President of South China University of Technology, Mei Hong, Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, leaders from University of Notre Dame, Arizona State University, and University of Virginia, and many IBM managers including Chairman of IBM in Greater China also attend the meeting. They share ideas on school-business cooperation and international exchanges. They also discuss about how to seize the opportunities with the use of cloud computing, cognitive computing, big data analysis, mobile and social contact.

During the meeting, Luo Zhongxuan and Guan Lian have deep discussions about talent training, construction of practice base, and joint laboratory program. In 2015, more cooperation programs will be launched in the aspects of collaborative innovation and scientific research. DUT became one of the first-batch members of IBM cooperation program in 2005 and established a practice base with IBM in 2007.
