August 17-22 -- A DUT delegation led by Wei Xiaopeng visited seven universities in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Representatives from Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, Faculty of Chemical, Environmental and Biological Science and Technology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Alumni Office, etc. joined it.
During their visit in Hong Kong, Wei met with vice president Gao Weiyuan, fromUniversityofHong Kongand Professor Chen Fanchang from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. They discussed and reached initial agreement on top design of inter-university cooperation for student summer camps and forums in predominant disciplines of both sides. They also visited Wu Binglian, Honorary Chairman of DUT Alumni Association of Hong Kong, and other alumni of DUT in Hong Kong.
During their visit inTaiwan, they visited Shih Hsin University,Soochow University,Ming Chuan University,National Taiwan University and Tunghai University. They carried out deep discussion on student exchange projects, academic cooperation between disciplines, construction of humanity disciplines, works of alumni and so on with professor Wu Yongqian, president of Shih Hsin University, professor Pai Weida, president of Soochow University, professor Li Quan, president of Ming Chuan University, professor Yang Panchi, president of National Taiwan University and professor Lin Zhendong, president of Tunghai University. They agreed to further expand short-term and long-term student exchange projects, jointly instruct postgraduates via the internet, hold high level forums in chemical engineering and strengthen academic cooperation on humanities and social sciences, economics and management, chemical engineering, transportation and other disciplines.
This visit lays a solid foundation for DUT to communicate with universities in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the future.
