September 10 -- On the afternoon of September 10th, Commendation Congress on Teacher’s Day was held in Bochuan Library to award outstanding groups and excellent individuals that had accomplished great achievements in the last year. It was hosted by Li Junjie, vice president of DUT. Wei Xiaopeng delivered a speech and President Guo Dongming announced the rewarding list.
University leaders, including Wei Xiaopeng, Guo Dongming, Jiang Dexue, Li Cheng’en, Song Dan, Lu Zhongchang, Ning Guiling, Li Junjie, Jia Zhenyuan, Song Yongchen and Zhu Hong, gave prizes to representatives. The rewards were given to five different fields: high level talents, cultivation work, undergraduates’ education and teaching, postgraduates’ education and teaching and students affairs.
Wei said in his speech that on behalf of DUT, he would like to express his greetings and gratitude to the entire faculty who had devoted all their efforts to the development of DUT, his congratulations to all those rewarded groups and individual and his respect to retired teachers and staff.
He pointed out that all the achievements DUT had made highly relied on the wisdom and efforts of all teachers. Moreover, the rewarded teachers today should continue to serve as role models and make further contributions to DUT.
He emphasized that to striving for the world first-class university, the entire faculty should strictly follow the following requirements:
Teachers should regard the cultivation of students as the basis and balance the relationship between teaching and researching.
Teachers should improve their own morality to affect students and create an excellent atmosphere for students to study in.
Teachers should know more about education principles, develop novel teaching styles in many new ways, fulfill the form and carrier of teaching and pay more attention to students’ innovative thinking and ideas.
Teachers should improve their research ability and follow the needs of our nation and the developing trend of their research fields.
Teachers should strengthen their responsibility to immerse personal development into the goal of “striving for the world first-class” and propose new thoughts, solutions and suggestions for DUT’s reform and development.
Li Junjie said the theme of this year’s Teacher’s Day was “strengthening teachers’ ethics and building first-class teaching team”. He hoped that the rewarded groups and individuals could make persistent efforts and that the entire faculty could take them as examples.
During the meeting, Guo Xinwen, person in charge of 2014 undergraduate predominant disciplines in institutions for higher learning inLiaoningprovince, Guo Chonghui, mentor of 2014Liaoningoutstanding doctoral dissertation, Sun Zhuang,Dalian“Outstanding Teacher”, and Xu Baolun, chairman of student union in DUT.
Attendants included university leaders, academicians, leaders of all departments, representatives of rewarded groups, rewarded teachers, representatives of retired teachers, etc.
