On December 16th , the 7th Conference of University Presidents of theExcellence League(E9 League)-Forum of University Presidents 2016 was held in the Dalian University of Technology. Presidents of the E9 members gathered together to make a further discussion over the cooperation approaches and mechanism among members of such an innovative league as E9 which are committed to the goal of being aworld-class universitywithworld-class disciplines (also known as the Double First-class Plan) and how to develop excellent talents.At the conference, a consensus has been reached on the future development plan and action program of the league. Keynote speeches are presented themed "Facing Double First-class Plan: New Ideas, Thinking and Strategy of E9".
The conference features Hu Haiyan, President of the Beijing Institute of Technology; Zhou Xuhong, President of Chongqing University; Guo Dongming, President of the Dalian University of Technology (DUT); Zhang Guangjun, President of the Southeast University; Zhou Yu, President of the Harbin Institute of Technology; Wang Yingjun, President of the South China University of Technology; Zhong Denghua, President of Tianjin University; Zhong Zhihua,President of Tongji University, and Wang Jinsong, President of the Northwestern Polytechnical University, among others. Duan Xianzhong, President of the Hunan University is invited to the meeting. Wang Hansong, Secretary of the Party Committee of DUT presided over the conference.
At the conference, Mr.Guo Dongming delivered a welcome speech and received the E9 League Flag as the chairman on duty 2016-2017. Mr.Guo stated that members of the E9 League have made a progress together and contributed to the development of China's higher education.
At the Forum of University Presidents 2016, which was held in the Bochuan Library of DUT, Wang Hansong said that this forum is going to unveil a new chapter for the members on their way to be aworld-class universitywithworld-class disciplines, leading to more comprehensive cooperation and exchanges among the members and greater voices and contribution of the E9.
At the forum, presidents from member universities of the E9 explored development opportunities and in-depth cooperation in new areas among them by studying the development trend of world-class universities and sharing their insights and discussing their responsibilities and mission.
