In Sept.22, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Summit and Photo Exhibition ,sponsored by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Selection Committee and Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, was hosted by DUT. This Summit was attended by Duan Ruichun,the Secretary General of The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Selection Committee, Gao Wen, CAS(Chinese Academy of Sciences)member and the Deputy Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Li Can, member of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, An Bangxu, the Deputy Director of Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Guo Dongming, President of DUT and CAS member, Prof Jia Zhenyuan, Vice President of DUT and Cheng Gengdong, CAS member.
On behalf of DUT,President Guo gave his speech on the opening ceremony. He firstly expressed his gratitude to the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Selection Committee, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Office for Science & Technology Awards, and Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau for the long-term supports they’ve provided to DUT. Then Mr. Guo said that the noble characters of those four patriotic Hong Kong entrepreneurs are exactly reflected in the he Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, and the latter has already been an exemplary one on the field of civil-run science & technology awards. At last, Mr.Guo wished that the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation will make more contributions to domestic scientific and technological innovation and will meet an even brighter future.
Duan Ruichun,the Secretary General of The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Selection Committee was giving speech at the Summit. He introduced the history and development of The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation and said that they will aid more and more scientific and technological workers.
Mr. Gao Wen,Mr. Li Can,Mr. Cheng Gengdong and Mr. Duan Ruichun were madding their keynote speeches at the high-end forum.
Before the Summit, President Guo met Mr. Duan and his group and they visited the photo exhibition in the northern hall of Bochuan Library.
The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation ,a charity fund for public welfare, has been registered in Hong Kong in March 30,1994.And the registered fund was came from four Hong Kong patriotic financiers(Mr. Ho Sin Hang, Mr. Leung Kau Kui , Mr. Ho Tim and Mr. Lee Quo-wei)’joint donation out of their passion to revive Chinese science and technology. During the 23 years, there were 1,198 persons have won the Scientific & Technological Awards of The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, including 3 alumnus(Mr. Qian Lingxi, Mr. Cheng Gengdong and Mr. Zhong Wanxie) and an alumna (Ms. Zhang Shufen)of DUT.
This photo exhibition chose “Glory, Responsibility and Dream”as the theme, mainly introducing the background, development and contributions of The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation as well as promoting the achievements of the local prize-winners.
