The 18th plenary session (enlarged) of the 13th committee of DUT has been held in the International Convention Center on the morning of March 14th. Mr. Wang Hansong, the party secretary gave the work report of 2017 to other university authorities. President Guo Dongming, the standing committee of the communist party of DUT explained the key points of the work in 2018 and made arrangement for the coming year. Both of them also gave their personal progress reports during the session. Deputy Secretary of the party committee Mr. Jiang Dexue gave his report about the selection and employment situation in 2017. Mr. Li Chengen, the Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection made his report on democratic consultation. During the session, the representatives made discussion together on the future plan and the evaluation for all the staff.
People attending the meeting were Zhang Guohui, the inspector from Department of Personnel, Ministry of Education, Shi Jing, the deputy director of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and relative staff and retired leaders, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, party committee member, discipline committee member, teachers, students and so on.
Mr. Wang Hansong gave the work report in 2017. He pointed out that the party committee has strengthened four consciousnesses, performed the duty of dealing with party affairs and university affairs, and played an important role as the core of our university. And he believed we would implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress and put it into practice to combine it with all our needs. The party committee would lead and guide all faculty, staff and students to fight for new achievements and the further construction of the first-level university.
He emphasized that, over the past year of 2017, we had strengthened and enhanced the leadership to university affairs of the Party in order to follow the right direction of running the university; we had strengthened the self-construction of leaders in order to reinforce the ability of running the university and dealing with the whole picture; we had kept educating people in their morality to produce students of high qualities. We have also strengthened ourselves to serve our university, our students and our party.
Mr. Wang also pointed out that the party committee of our university should face the actual needs and problems in order to fulfill the desire of students and teachers, a higher goal of the first-level university construction in the new area. Therefore, the plan for 2018 would focus on seven points. First, persist in the way of socialistic education. Second, reinforce the goal of building the world's first-level university. Third, stabilize the essential mission of educating people's morality. Fourth, activate the power of revolution. Fifth, make a change in the improvement of behaviors. Sixth, comprehensively strengthen Party discipline. Seventh, reach the common idea of rolling up our sleeves to work harder.
Mr. Guo explained the key points of the work in 2018 and made arrangement for the coming year. He pointed out that, we should work hard in the new area with the new mission. We should also realize the historical position of Chinese higher education in this new time area. It's our mission to learn Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We should have a new start to build ourselves in to the world's first-level university. Therefore, we must perform our duty to gain new achievements.
As an explanation for the arrangement of 2018, Mr. Guo emphasized that there were five pieces of requirement. Firstly, persist in the way of socialistic education. Secondly, reinforce the goal of building the world's first-level university. Thirdly, deepen comprehensive reformation to solve the problem of development. Fourthly, deal with different aspects of university affairs and educate more people in their qualities to build a harmonious atmosphere in the university. Fifthly, comprehensively strengthen Party discipline to develop honest behaviors.
Mr. Guo ordered everyone to gather together around the CPC with President Xi as its core. We need to remember where we have started and keep our essential mission in mind to make more contribution to build our university into a first-level one and to realize the great dream of China.
In the afternoon, the representatives were developed into eight groups to make further discussion about the arrangement and finally passed it.
