In March 22nd, President Guo Dongming prepared a warm welcome to Professor Christoph Meinel, the Academician of the German National Academy of Sciences and the academician of Hasso-plattner digital engineering institute and issued him the letter of appointment.
After the brief introduction of our university, Mr. Guo expressed his will in strengthening the cooperation in mathematics, information, artificial intelligence and other fields and cultivating innovative and entrepreneurial talents to gain the win-win situation.
Professor Meinel expressed his pleasure of coming here. With years of cooperation, he has already established deep friendship with people in DUT. He hoped that more cooperation in different fields could be made to contribute more to the scientific research cooperation and talent training of both sides.
After the conference, Professor Meinel gave an academic report to the students and made a further discussion with teachers from Faculty of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering about training schedule, the MOOC, artificial intelligence and the cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Christoph Meinel is a German scientist and university professor of computer sciences. He is president and CEO of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) for IT Systems Engineering at the University of Potsdam (Germany), and a professor for Internet Technologies and Systems. He is a member of acatech, the national German academy of science and engineering. Christoph Meinel is chairman of the German IPv6 council, and program director of the HPI-Stanford Design Thinking Research Program. He is the head of the steering committee of the HPI Future SOC Lab, and member of various advisory boards like the security advisory board of SAP.
Hasso-Plattner-Institut für Digital Engineering gGmbH was established in 1998 and is affiliated to the University of Potsdam. For many years, it ranks fifth in the top group of information technology in the CHE-Ranking.
