The 17th meeting of the 10th DUT Academic Degree Evaluation Committee was held in DUT

On the afternoon of 20th March, the 17th meeting of the 10th DUT Academic Degree Evaluation Committee was held in the central meeting room of the Main Building. Guo Dongming, President of DUT and the chairman of the DUT Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, attended with other 20 committee members and presided over this meeting.

This meeting heard a report from Professor Zhang Jili, the Vice Dean of Graduate School on the censorship and oral defenses of Doctoral Dissertations as well on the discussions about Bachelor's Degree Theses which were organized by Academic Degree Evaluation Sub-Committees and Bachelor’s Degree Evaluation Sub-Committees of faculties. This meeting voted to confer Bachelor's degrees on 623 undergraduates and Doctorates on 79 doctoral candidates.

This meeting voted and adopted the supplementary of the list of academic journals in which doctoral candidate in Educational Administration can publish research papers; the requirements of research papers for doctoral candidates of Faculty of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering; the adjusted membership list of Academic Degree Evaluation Sub-Committee of School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering.

At last Mr.Guo read the resolutions and made requirements on the quality of doctoral programs. He stated that DUT has consistently maintained a pass rate of 100% in quality inspections of the doctoral dissertations organized by the Ministry of Education and the Office of National Education Inspection. The results are among the best and have been highly appreciated. President Guo also stressed that academic advisors should take the primary responsibility in promoting the quality of doctoral dissertations.

In terms of scientific research, our coubtry has successively issued scientific research plans and President Guo hopes that the teachers of DUT can participate enthusiastically. It is hoped that the members of the DUT Academic Degree Evaluation Committee should pay attention to the country’s major needs and propose topics and ideas that are in line with the state’s scientific and technological development frontier, and create academic leaders through various projects.
