On the afternoon of April 30th, the President of DUT, Academician Guo Dongming, met with Academician Zu Wuzheng, the visiting president of the Institute of Technology at the Stevens Institute of Technology in the main building. Responsible persons and teachers from DUT R&D Institute of Technology, International Office, DUT Libraries, and School of Mechanical Engineering attended the seminar.
President Guo stated that both DUT and Stevens Institute of Technology are strong in science and technology and have similar academic background. This has laid a good foundation for the cooperation between the two sides. It is expected that both parties will be able to expand cooperation areas and work together to strengthen the multi-mode international cooperation of undergraduate students’ cultivation.
Academician Zu showed her deep interest in the pattern of international cooperation in running education institutes. She expressed the hope that she would be able to join in, and she hoped to rely on the similar disciplines of both parties to strengthen joint training of personnel and research.
At the meeting, President Zu introduced the situation of Stevens Institute of Technology. Cong Fengyu, director of International Office of DUT, introduced the international cooperation situation of our university.
Stevens Institute of Technology, founded in 1870, is one of the oldest polytechnic colleges in the United States, and is at the forefront of education and research in the United States. Zu Wuzheng, an academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, is mainly engaged in the research of basic theory and engineering applications in the field of solid mechanics, dynamics and mechanical vibration.
