In order to commend outstanding students for inheriting the red genes of DUT, practicing advanced socialist core values, and making outstanding contributions to the Alma Mater and to strengthen the development and construction of DUT by using the models to encourage young students to become the inheritors and practitioners of the great red genes, the “Model of DUT” and “Alumni of the Year 2017” Award Ceremony was held in the mountain hall on the afternoon of May 5th. There were totally 16 students and teams and 12 alumni were awarded.
Leaders of DUT Wang Hansong, Guo Dongming, Song Dan, and Bi Mingshu attended the ceremony. Besides, alumni representatives, heads of relevant functional departments, heads of departments (schools), secretary of league committees, teacher representatives, and student representatives attended the ceremony.
Eight prizes were selected for the 8th “Model of DUT”: Li Yangfan, Zhang Xiao (Academic Research Award); Zhang Zhiying, Illiztian Anwar (Self-improvement and Strength Award); Xu Zhihao and Wang Chun (Employment Model Award). Xue Naiyu, Huan Yu Educational Science and Technology Team (Startup Pioneer Award); Wang Xin, Pioneer Zero Distance Social Practice Team (Social Practice Award); Ganlu Public Welfare Association, “Dream in Zhouqu” Public Welfare Team (Public Charity Award); Guo Jin, Gotkul Nurmemti (Social Work Award); Li Delong, Fu Sheng Jun (Artistic Talent Award).
In 2017, a total of 12 alumni won the “Alumni of the Year” honorary title. They are: Liu Enhai, Deputy Director of Institute of Optics and Electronics of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Ji Zhijian, Chairman of Dalian Ice Mountain Group Co., Ltd.; Wu Huiming, General Manager of Zhejiang Kaitian Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.; Miao Yuhua, Deputy General Manager of AVIC Shenfei Co., Ltd., deputy general manager of Shenyang Aircraft Industry (Group); Duan Xuru, vice president of the Southwestern Institute of Physics of the Nuclear Industry; Wei Guoping, chairman of the Auggina Group; Sun Shengdian, independent director of the Shenzhen Konka Group and director of the Shenzhen Vanke Group, and Fan Henghai, a researcher at the Xi’ an Satellite Measurement and Control Center (Alumni Achievement Award); Jia Xibei, CEO of China Proud Data Technology Co., Ltd., Gao Jibin, Deputy Chief Engineer of the General Manager's Office of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island Tunnel Project of China Communications Construction Co., Ltd., and the Second Navigation Engineering Bureau of China Communications, deputy director of the General Office of the company, (Young Alumni Achievement Award); Ren Xiaomin, general manager of Dalian Sinuo Hardware & Minerals Co., Ltd. (Alumni Contribution Award); Zhang Yaming (Alumni Service Award), chairman of Australian Mossman Information Network Co., Ltd. Secretary Wang Hansong and Principle Guo Dongming presented prizes to the award-winning alumni who attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, the award-winning alumni used “adhering”, “realistic and enterprising”, “responsibility”, “dedication”, “persistence”, “hard-working”, “art work”, “professionalism”, “courage for others”, “keeping going ahead” 10 keywords to share their growth experience to encourage the students to make great achievements in their youth.
“Model of DUT” and “Alumni of the Year 2017” demonstrated the determination of DUTers to strengthen their ideals and beliefs, and inherit the red genes. The winning delegates continued to forge ahead with high morale and enthusiasm. They inherited the “The sea embraces everything, self-improvement, hard working with great conscience, combining knowledge with practice”. The great work spirit encourages DUTers to shoulder the historic missions of building a strong country, and contribute wisdom and strength to the construction of nation and first-rate university of DUT.
