​Dalian University of Technology and BMW Brilliance signed a cooperation agreement to jointly train doctoral students

On the afternoon of May 23, DUT signed a cooperation agreement with BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd., and decided to jointly train doctoral students and adopt a dual-tutoring system with a training period of four years.

 

Before the signing ceremony, President Guo Dongming met with Dr. Wei Lande, the President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. in the main building. Jia Zhenyuan, the vice principle of DUT, and relevant responsible people of graduate school, and Faculty of Vehicle Engineering and Mechanics accompanied the meeting.

 

After briefly introducing the basic situation of DUT, Principle Guo Dongming stated that DUT attached great importance to the cultivation of talents and cultivated high-level talents by continuously improving the overall academic level of DUT and strictly controls the quality of talents. In the early period, the two sides have already conducted good cooperation in joint training of doctoral students and practical bases for postgraduates of professional degrees. It was hoped that in the future, cooperation could be further intensified and the cooperation space could be expanded in the field of doctoral training in engineering, scholarship setting, joint construction of joint laboratories, and construction practice cooperation bases and other areas to carry out further cooperation.

 

Dr. Wei Lande said that BMW Brilliance took root in Liaoning Province and it needed the cooperation of high-level partners like DUT to make more contributions to revitalize the old industrial base in Northeast China. They wanted to use this visit as an opportunity to further strengthen the joint training of doctoral students, and to expand cooperation in undergraduate training, scientific research and other aspects, to increase the breadth and depth of bilateral cooperation and jointly promote the economic development of Liaoning Province. At the same time, they welcome more graduates from DUT to work in BMW Brilliance.

 

At the meeting, Zhang Jili, deputy director of the Graduate School, and Shangguan Nanlin, senior vice president of human resources at BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd., signed the "Dalian University of Technology-Brilliance-BMW Automotive Co., Ltd. joint training project for doctoral programs".

 

It was reported that DUT and BMW Brilliance Co., Ltd. jointly trained doctoral students in 2015 under the coordination of Liaoning Provincial Department of Education under the coordination of cooperation. Doctoral students participating in the project would participate in tailor-made academic training, high-level general skills training and leadership training. Furthermore, excellent students of them could also have the opportunity to visit the German headquarters of BMW for academic exchanges and training. At present, three doctoral students have been already selected for this project through the assessment of both sides.
