From April 16th to April 19th, Guo Dongming, President of DUT led the delegation to visit Japanese universities and related institutions to further promote the “classmate friendliness” program of first-class universities in China and Japan, and deepen the talent cultivation and research international cooperation between DUT and the top universities in Japan. Principle assistant Luo Zhongxuan and other related persons in charge of the Academic Affairs Office, the International Cooperation and Exchange Division, and School of Materials Science and Engineering accompanied the meeting.
From the afternoon of theApril16th to the morning of April 17th, Mr. Guo and his delegation visited Ritsumeikan University to attend the 6th meeting of Dalian University of Technology - Ritsumeikan University International Information and Software College Joint Committee, and the “Health and Intelligence Computing Joint of Dalian University of Technology and Ritsumeikan University” Research Center Signing Ceremony. At the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission, the two sides stated that they would intensify their efforts to support the development of the joint college in the future, and strive to be leaders in the field of joint education between China and Japan to achieve new breakthrough in the joint college. At the same time, as the first joint research institution in the field of information between universities in China and Japan, the two sides stated that they would deepen exchanges, complement each other, and achieve breakthrough.
On the afternoon of the April 17th, the delegation held a cordial meeting with Li Tianran, the Consul General of China in Osaka and Sun Dagang, Consul-General of Niigata. The two consuls expressed high appreciation for the program of "classmate friendliness" of DUT, and expressed that they would give full support to the establishment of the cooperation between DUT and famous Japanese universities in predominant subjects.
On the April 18th, the delegation visited Tohoku University, Professor Toshio Ohno, Principle of Tohoku University, Prof. Kimura Kiyoshi, Deputy Director-General of International Exchange, and Prof. Yamaguchi Masahiro, Deputy Director-General of International Strategy and Reform, met with the delegation. At the same time, the delegation conducted in-depth exchanges with the Institute of Metal Materials, Mechanical Engineering, and Graduate School of Medical Science of Tohoku University, and visited related laboratories. Moreover, they reached an agreement on promoting in-depth cooperation in scientific research between the two universities. .
On the April 19th, the delegation visited the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), JST Director Akita Akira, and the attending researcher Okimura Kazuki met with the delegation and signed a cooperation agreement. The two sides discussed in detail about the development of the "classmate friendliness" grading program promoted by DUT among top universities in China and Japan. JST said that it would provide active support and cooperation in policies, follow-up and other related aspects.
The "classmates Friendliness" program of leading universities in China and Japan was proposed by Mr. Guo during his visit to Osaka University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Nagoya University in July 2017. It aims to establish a one-on-one, butt-joint training program with Japanese top universities. Chinese and Japanese students can freely go to each other’s campus to study in the same class, and gain a double-campus experience. It is beneficial to establish a profound friendship among students, further promote the development of the universities' international characteristics and friendly exchanges between China and Japan.
