On the morning of June 7, the meeting for the presidents was held in the report hall of the Main Building by DUT-BSU Joint Institute. President Guo Dongming and Andrei Carroll, President of Belarusian State University, had face-to-face exchanges with the 79 students enrolled in the first session of the DUT-BSU Joint Institute. Attending the meeting were Vice President Zhu Hong, Mr. Luo Zhongxuan, the assistant of the president and relevant staff from Academic Affairs Office, DUT-BSU Joint Institute, School of Mathematical Sciences, Belarusian State University and Confucius Institute. The meeting was hosted by Mr. Luo Zhongxuan.
At the meeting, President Guo Dongming pointed out that the establishment of the first international cooperative education institution jointly approved by the Ministry of Education of China and Belarus represented a historic mission for China and Belarus to jointly cultivate high-level international talents. As a student at the International Union College, everyone's goal is to grow into a world-class talent with complex language skills and professional skills.
President Guo Dongming raised four hopes for the students of DUT-BSU Joint Institute. He hoped that the students could seize the opportunities and grasp the direction and establish a vision of a youthful future; build a solid foundation, concentrate on their actions, build a solid foundation for future development, broaden their horizons, focus on first-rate development, and cultivate international standards; they should develop innovative thinking; be not afraid of difficulties and brave enough to explore. Finally they will bloom the most beautiful light of youth.
In his speech, President Andre Carroll pointed out that Dalian University of Technology has always been the most trusted partner of the Belarusian State University. In the 13 years of cooperation, the two universities have not only jointly completed and developed the educational research between China and Belarus. All-round cooperation in the field has now reached a new level. As the first students of the joint education between China and Belarus, the students are fortunate and have a difficult task. I hope everyone will be based on reality and create a better future!
According to the Constitution, after entering, the students of DUT-BSU Joint Institute will have dual academic qualifications of Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian State University. At the meeting, under the common witness of the principals and teachers of the two universities, President Andre Carroll awarded the students’ representatives of the DUT-BSU Joint Institute with a student certificate and a badge of the Belarusian State University.

Ending the meeting with poetry recitation in Chinese, English and Russian, and a chorus in Russian, the participants took a photo in front of the statue of Chairman Mao.
