President Guo Dongming Met with the Sakura Science & Technology Program Delegation from Japan

 

On the afternoon of June 28th, President Guo Dongming met with Mr. Kazuki Okimura, the special adviser of Japan Science and Technology Agency, the founder of the Sino-Japan Youth Exchange Program in Science & Technology (Sakura Science & Technology Program) and the honorary professor of our university. Together with him was the Japanese delegation of Sino-Japan Youth Exchange Program.

 

President Guo extended his great welcome to the delegation and introduced our characteristics in running the university, especially about our exchanging program together with Japan and the Sino-Japanese talents educating plan. He hoped that the exchanging platform could provide more chance for teenagers from both sides to know more about their country and strengthen their friendship. Therefore we could get more elites who fully understand the relationship between China and Japan and will put forward the exchange between each other.

 

Mr. Okimura expressed that, the Japanese government paid great attention on the talent exchange in science and technology. They hoped that this program can promote the further development of Japan-China relationship. He hoped he could strengthen the understanding of Dalian University of Technology as an example of the Chinese universities and further promote the Japanese-Chinese education visit. Mr. Jiang Xiaoping expressed his hope that the delegation could bring our friendship back to Japan and make greater contributions to Sino-Japan friendship and scientific & technological innovation cooperation.

 

During the meeting, Mr. Cong Fengyu, the head of the International Office introduced the basic information of our university. A student from Faculty of Chemical, Environmental and Biological Science and Technology introduced his feeling of joining in the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science. After that, the delegation made a conversation with our teachers and students.

 

After the meeting, the delegation paid their visit to State Key laboratory of Fine Chemicals, the Collaborative Innovation Center of Major Machine Manufacturing in Liaoning and the School of Innovation Experiment.

 

Mr. Okimura held a promotion meeting of Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science and introduced how to sign up for it. Over eighty teachers from different universities in Liaoning had attended the meeting.
