In order to learn the spirit of the speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the conference of academicians of the two academies，the Party Committee Theory Learning Center Group (Expanded) Learning Conference was held in the Main Building on June 8th with Mr. Wang Hansong as its host.
Mr. Wang pointed out that we must improve scientific literacy and respects the laws of scientific research. They must be good leaders and experts, and constantly strengthen leadership and promote the power of technological innovation. We must closely focus on the country’s major strategic needs and the requirements for the development of higher education and strive to seize the commanding heights of technological competition and future development so that we can devote ourselves into the nation's strategic needs and the development of higher education. It is necessary to firmly establish the strategic position of talents leading the development, plan to speed up the building of first-rate talents, regard talents as the primary resource for the development of our university, and regard the use of training as the key, providing inexhaustible motive force for the construction of first-class universities.
Mr. Guo Dongming mentioned that, a key deployment has been made to achieve the goal of building a world power, and clear requirements have been put forward for implementation. We should catch the opportunities to perform our duty and regard innovation as the driving force. As members of Dalian University of Technology, we need to adhere to independent innovation, deepen reform of the science and technology system, firmly establish the strategic position of talents leading development, create a creative atmosphere, and promote new breakthroughs in technological innovation. Therefore we can devote ourselves into the construction of strengthening our nation.
