On the afternoon of September 4, Wang Chengwen, deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and his team came to DUT for research, discussing and exchanging views with teachers on a series of reform measures to be taken by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The forum was held in Room 512 of the main building. Principle Guo Dongming and Vice Principle Song Yongchen attended the forum. Besides, relevant leaders of the Science and Technology Research Institute, representatives of the National Outstanding Youth Fund winners, representatives of outstanding youth fund recipients, representatives of key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and representatives of young backbone teachers in the field of information science also attended the forum.
On behalf of the school, Principle Guo Dongming expressed his gratitude to the National Natural Science Foundation of China for the long term support for the basic research work of DUT. He hoped that the National Natural Science Foundation of China would continue to pay attention to DUT, give more guidance and support, and help DUT to serve the country with scientific and technological innovation.
Deputy Director Wang Chengwen said that in order to implement the new tasks and requirements for the work of the Science Fund in the new era, the National Natural Science Foundation of China would carry out a series of reform measures. He hoped that teachers and students could actively offer advices, making contributions to the science fund system with advanced concepts, institutional norms and independence in the new era. After the forum, Deputy Director Wang Chengwen and his team visited the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Precision and Non-Traditional Machining Technology to investigate scientific research characteristics of DUT.
