On the morning of October 22, Dalian Municipal Government and our university jointly established the Dalian University of Technology Artificial Intelligence Dalian Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as “Artificial Intelligence Research Institute”). The cooperation agreement signing ceremony was held in Room 412 of the main building. Vice Mayor Jin Guowei, President of DUT Guo Dongming, and Vice President Yao Shan attended the signing ceremony.
Vice Mayor Jin Guowei expressed his hope that the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute would cultivate a group of artificial intelligence leading talents and industrial talents with forward-looking and cross-cutting thinking for Dalian, for Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces and even for the whole country, and build Dalian into a leading position in the field of artificial intelligence industry, contributing to the new round of comprehensive revitalization of the old industrial base in Liaoning.
President Guo Dongming said that our university always attached great importance to the construction of artificial intelligence related disciplines and had certain scientific research strength and talent reserve. With the support of the municipal government, our university would further build the artificial intelligence research institute, aim at the international frontier and national strategic needs, introduce high-end technical talents and teams at home and abroad, promote the transfer of scientific research results to better serve the national and local economic development.
After that, the Management Committee of the Artificial Intelligence Institute held its first meeting to approve the president and rules of the institute.
It is known that the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute is located in High-tech Zone. Attached to the municipal government, the institute is self-supporting, self-operating, and our university is responsible to its daily management and operation. The Dalian Municipal Government will provide funds of about 30 million yuan every year to the "Artificial Intelligence Research Institute" for five consecutive years.
The Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Municipal Economic and Information Committee, the High-tech Industry Development Research Institute, the relevant leaders of the School of Science and Technology, and the Faculty of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering attended the signing ceremony and following meetings.
