On November 11, DUT President Guo Dongming visited Chengdu and signed a framework cooperation agreement with Chengdu Municipal Government. Luo Qiang, Deputy Secretary of Chengdu Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, Wu Kai, the member of Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, Minister of the United Front and Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions , Deputy Mayor Cao Junjie, and Secretary General of the Municipal Government Zhou Xianyi attended the signing ceremony. Yaoshan, the member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of DUT, and Cao Junjie signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties.
Guo Dongming said that Chengdu was one of the most important regions in Southwest China. And it was a central city with a long history and a solid industrial base. It had a good cooperation foundation and broad cooperation space with Dalian University of Technology. The school thoroughly implemented the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping to build a strong country in science and technology, facing the main battlefield of the national economy, deepening the comprehensive cooperation between the two sides, accelerating the construction of research institutes supported by the school and local government, and helping to promote the social and economic development in Chengdu and even the entire southwest region.
Mayor Luo Qiang extended a warm welcome to President Guo Dongming and his delegation, and briefly introduced the development of Chengdu in recent years. He said that Chengdu, as a major city in southwest China, had strong demand for high-level achievements and high-level talents. The framework cooperation agreement between the municipal government and the school was an important opportunity. Chengdu would ensure the construction of the research institutes in terms of funding, venues and policies. It was hoped that both sides would further strengthen the communication and connection, focus on industrial development needs, and collaborate with each other to achieve innovative results and mutual benefits.
According to the agreement, both sides would fully implement the resource advantages and conduct all-round cooperation in terms of scientific research, think tank construction, and talents cultivation, forming a long-term cooperative mechanism with deep integration of production, education and research.
