President Guo Dongming Made the Report on the 5th China-Japan Education Exchange Conference

On November 26th , the 5th China-Japan Education Exchange Conference was held in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship. Nearly 400 presidents, teachers and students from 116 well-known institutions in China and Japan gathered together to strengthen extensive dialogue and deepen exchanges on cooperation in education between the two countries. Guo Dongming, the president of DUT, attended the meeting and made a keynote report. President assistant Luo Zhongyu, and the leaders of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the Office of Development Planning and Comprehensive Reform and the DUT- Ritsumeikan Institute of International Information and Software also attended the educational exchange meeting.

 

At the opening ceremony, Chinese ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua, Consul General of the Consulate General of PRC in Osaka, Li Tianran, Deputy Mayor of Hyogo, Japan, Mr. Kanazawa, and other representatives witnessed that DUT President Guo Dongming and the president of Okayama University Mr. Kano, signed the Awaji Island Declaration on behalf of the China University Excellence Alliance and the Japan National University Alliance respectively.

 

Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and congratulated the signing of the agreement. Cheng Yonghua pointed out that since the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan in 1972 , the educational exchanges between our two countries have developed a lot under the joint efforts of both sides. The areas of cooperation have expanded and the level has been increasing. It has become an indispensable part of Sino-Japanese relations and has played a positive role in knowledge dissemination, talents cultivation, mutual understanding and mutual development.

 

In the afternoon, there were two sub-forums, “Sino-Japanese University Presidents Forum” and “China-Japan Medical Exchange Forum”. The representatives of the two sides discussed on topics of “Management Experiences and Challenges of Top Universities in China and Japan”, “Sino-Japanese University Research Innovation and Industry-University-Research Cooperation” and “Cancer Treatment”.

 

The 5th China-Japan Education Exchange Conference was hosted by the China Education International Exchange Association. The Consulate General of PRC in Osaka, the Hyogo Government of Japan, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan jointly organized and the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Center undertook the conference. DUT will endeavor to make more contributions to Sino-Japan university education exchanges.
