On the afternoon of December 28th, the major project of the Ministry of Education on philosophy and social science research project “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the textbook, the classroom and the students' mind research" opening report and academic seminar was held. Professor Wang Hansong, chief expert of the research group and secretary of the Party Committee of our university, and Li Jianping, director of the Social Science Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, attended the meeting. Attending the seminar were Pang Jinju, former deputy secretary of the party committee of Nankai University, Yan Xiaofeng, dean of the School of Marxism of Tianjin University, Zhang Xinping, dean of the College of Marxism of Lanzhou University, Zhang Zhongmin, dean of the School of Marxism of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Song Dan, deputy secretary and vice president of Dalian University of Technology. Professor Song Yongchen, delivered a speech on behalf of our university. Representatives of teachers and students of the School of Marxism attended the meeting.
Song Yongchen said in his speech that high-level philosophy and social sciences are important support for us to build world-class universities. "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the textbook, the classroom and the students' mind research " was approved in 2018 as the major research project of the Ministry of Education on philosophy and social sciences, which is a milestone of our Marxist theoretical research. It is hoped that under the guidance of experts, the research team would obtain high-level and high-quality research results and made contributions to the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
Li Jianping affirmed the efforts made by the research team and elaborated on the related matters in the project research process. It is hoped that the research team would actively adopt suggestions of the expert group, revise and improve the research plan, take the time to carry out research, effectively integrate the research strength inside and outside the university, establish brand awareness, strengthen the awareness of the service, provide the basis for government decision-making, and offer scientific plans for the dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in colleges and universities.
On behalf of the research group, Wang Hansong reported the overall design and planning of the project from following six aspects: the background and significance of the project research, the overall framework and sub-subject structure, the research methods and technical routes, the proposed breakthroughs and innovations, the schedule and expected research results, and the project budget. The heads of the sub-projects reported on the research framework, ideas, expected goals and specific measures of the sub-projects.
The participating experts affirmed the overall design, thinking that the subject had significant historical and practical significance with clear research objectives and detailed research planning. It was suggested that the research group strengthen the basic research of practice, take research as traction and the university as the practical platform, and lay a solid foundation for practical experience; the members of the research team should become the research experts of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, understand the connotation; explore and build Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the textbook, the classroom and the students' mind evaluation index system; highlight research priorities, break through key difficulties, and propose scientific and operational measures and recommendations.
On behalf of the university and the research team, Wang Hansong thanked the experts for their guidance and suggestions. He said that strengthening moral education and cultivate talents are the glorious missions of universities and educators. The research team would take the task with responsibility. And with the encouragement, support and help of the experts, they had the confidence and ability to provide scientific solutions for the country in order to train socialist builders and successors and contribute wisdom and strength to socialist education with Chinese characteristics.During the meeting, the attendants also brought their own report.
