As the Spring Festival approaching, Tan Chengxu, Mayor of Dalian came to DUT paying a visit to academicians Qiu Dahong and Peng Xiaojun. Hao Hongjun, members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Qi Guowei, Vice Mayor, Wang Guang, Commander of the Military Division, Liu Gang, Vice Chairman of the Dalian Municipal Political Consultative Committee, and Bi Mingshu, Vice President and others accompanied the visit.
Tan warmly greeted Academician Qiu Dahong and was concerned about the research work of Academician Peng Xiaojun. He hoped that the two academicians would continue to contribute to the national science and technology innovation and build a comprehensive modern city in Dalian in the new era. Dalian University of Technology has been representative of Dalian and thus highly supported by the Dalian Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
Qiu Dahong and Peng Xiaojun thanked the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for their support over the years and said that they will make every effort to contribute to the economic and social development of Dalian. Academician Qiu Dahong also made suggestions on strengthening the construction of Dalian seaports and tunnels. Academician Peng Xiaojun made recommendations on local government support schools, schools to help local economic development, and achieve win-win cooperation. Bi Mingshu, on behalf of Secretary Wang Hansong and President Guo Dongming, thanked the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for their support for the talent work of Dalian University of Technology. He said that he would further strengthen the training and introduction of high-end talents and contribute wisdom to national and local economic construction.
