On the afternoon of April 10th, US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his delegation visited our university. President Guo Dongming met with guests in Room 312 of the main building. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on cooperation and exchanges in the field of education.
During the meeting, Pinciple Guo Dongming introduced the basic situation of our university and the cooperation and exchanges between our university and American universities and enterprises. Further discussion was made on promoting the training of our university and American universities and research institutions in the field of personnel training and cooperation on research of science and technology. Ambassador Branstad expressed his appreciation for the contribution of our university in international cooperation and exchanges, pointing out that the US Embassy in China will continue to work to encourage exchanges of visits between students of the two countries and enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.
Ambassador Branstad deeply recalled the history of cooperation and exchanges since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and China, especially the history of exchanges between the two countries when he was the governor of Iowa, and friendly exchanges with our students.
Mr. Branstad's wife Christine, Mei Rurui, Consul General of the United States in Shenyang, and his wife, and Fang Danian, the cultural consul of the US Consulate General in Shenyang accompanied him in this visit.
