The 47th Geneva International Invention Exhibition was held at the International Convention and Exhibition Center in Geneva, Switzerland from April 10th to 14th. More than 800 institutions from more than 40 countries and regions participated in the exhibition. DUT selected four outstanding scientific and technological achievements to participate in the exhibition, and won a special award gold medal and three gold awards respectively. It was the best result of DUT since its participation in the Geneva International Invention Exhibition.
In this exhibition, the project “Equipment and technique for the on-board detection of pressure cores containing natural gas hydrate” from the team of Professor Song Yongchen of School of Energy and Power Engineering won the special prize of the exhibition and the special merit award of the Romanian delegation. The project “Multi-Level Early Warning Technology for Catastrophe Prevention of Super Long-Span Bridge” of the team of Professor Yi Tinghua from Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering won the gold medal of the exhibition and the best invention award of the Russian delegation. “Utilization of non-conventional energy resource to clean fuels” and “Hydrogenation Technology of Petroleum Resin”, the two projects of the team of Professor Liang Changhai from School of Chemical Engineering were both awarded the Gold Award. During the entire exhibition, DUT has received extensive attention from researchers, entrepreneurs and inventors around the world.
The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva is one of the world's three major invention exhibitions (Geneva Invention Exhibition, Pittsburgh Invention Exhibition, and Nuremberg Invention Exhibition). It was founded in 1973 and has been successfully held for 47 sessions by 2019. This large-scale international exhibition is jointly organized by the Swiss Federal Government, the Canton of Geneva, the City of Geneva, and the World Intellectual Property Organization. It is also one of the longest and largest exhibitions in the world.
