The Second DUT Xinghai Youth Forum was held on May 15th. Tan Zuojun, the member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered his speech. Attending this opening ceremony as well were Zhao Daguang and Xiong Boli, members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, comrades from Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau. Leaders of Dalian University of Technology including Wang Hansong, Guo Dongming, Jiang Dexue, Bi Mingshu and major relevant in charge from schools and faculties participated in the opening ceremony as well.
DUT Xinghai Youth Forum this year sets up one main forum and fifteen sub-forums, and invited hundreds of young talents from 14 countries and regions to participate in. And the fields, for example, include chemical and chemical engineering, bioengineering, construction engineering, equipment manufacturing, mechanics, information science, mathematics and physics, management engineering, humanities and social sciences, etc.
Mr. Tan introduced the progress that Dalian has achieved in its development and its advantages in opening up, industrial base, technological innovation, ecological environment, public services and talent policy to those young scholars in multiple aspects. He expressed his hope that more young elites from home and abroad could settle in, join and start their own business in Dalian. He hoped that with the mission to develop Dalian with establishing a pilot area that leads the optimization of industrial structure in the Northeast, and establishing a pioneering area for spatial planning science, green development, beautiful ecological environment, comfortable living and living, and leading the economic and social development of Northeast China, the young elites could fulfill their life-long goals.
Principal Guo Dongming introduced our tradition of running the university, advantages in science and research, goal for further developing and the work on talent personnel. Dalian University of Technology is just the place to learn and realize the dream of scientific research. He expressed his warm welcome to all the young elites from home and abroad, hoped that they could come and join in the innovation and starting up new business together so as to devote their wisdom and power into helping to develop the world's first-class university and serve the strategic needs of our nation.
After the opening ceremony, relevant in charge from Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau made further explanation in detail about the policies raised toward the province and the city. Mr. Bi Mingshu made a detailed introduction on the policies and mechanism on the introduction and training talent personnel. Professor Duan Chunying and Professor Song Jinhui shared their growth experiences and feelings on behalf of the outstanding young scholars.
It is known that the sub-forums will be held by each school and faculty on May 16th, and the review will be conducted on the morning of the 17th. Participants will also visit key enterprises such as the Dalian Commodity Exchange, and key projects for local economic development such as the Xinghaiwan Bridge to deepen their understanding of our university and Dalian City.
The Xinghai Youth Forum is an important carrier for the introduction of agglomeration of outstanding young scholars at home and abroad. Through thematic reports and academic seminars, it will build a communication platform, publicize the talent introduction and training policies of the university, attract young talents to build a world-class university for large-scale work, and serve the national strategy. It will devote the wisdom and strength to support local development.
