At the Yellow Sea bank stands a great university, Dalian University of Technology. It has been making progress during the 70-year course. On June 16, Dalian University of Technology held the 70th Anniversary Celebration of its founding at the Gymnasium. Leaders at all levels, domestic and foreign guests, representatives from different fields, from domestic and foreign universities, and from alumni at home and abroad, and teachers and students at school gathered to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of DUT.
Tan Zuojun, member of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Dalian Municipal Party Committee, reviewed the glorious 70-year development of DUT with the support of Dalian. Thanks was given to DUT for its contribution to the construction and development of Dalian. Moreover, he hoped that DUT would continue to bring its advantages into play and actively participate in the construction of the Dalian regional innovation system.
Wang Hansong, secretary of the Party Committee of DUT, said that DUT is the first formal university founded by the Communist Party of China on the eve of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Flourished at the period when technology education and industry development are essential to the development of our nation, Wang Hansong emphasized that practical actions have been taken to celebrate the new era and the great nation.
Guo Dongming, president of DUT and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, reviewed the 70-year history of DUT. He said that DUT would continue to adhere to the party and the country's needs, making greater contributions to the realization of the Two Centenary Goals, the Chinese Dream and a community with a shared future for mankind!
The conference also held the award ceremony for the second annual meritorious teacher, the third outstanding alumnus and the 2018 alumni of the DUT.
Since its foundation, DUT has kept fostering elites, promoting science and technology, inheriting excellent cultures and guiding the social climate as its mission, dedicates itself to the creation, discovery, impart, conservation and application of knowledge, and endeavors to undertake social responsibilities to serve the country and the world. After 11-year development, DUT was bestowed as a national key university. Later, it started the implementation of "Project 211" and "Project 985" construction. At present, DUT continues to adhere to the fundamental task of setting high moral values and cultivating people, keep the primary mission of educating talents, deepen the comprehensive reform, strengthen characteristics of connotation, and strive to build a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
