By taking innovative online exchange mode which is both rigorous and lively, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) andSaitama University (SU) celebrated the 30thAnniversary of Cooperation recently. On behalf of President Guo Dongming, Prof. Luo Zhongxuan, the University Leader for International Affairs of DUT, and Takafumi Sakai, President of SU, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.
At the opening ceremony, Luo Zhongxuan and Takafumi Sakai exchanged souvenirs on behalf of the two universities. 30 years ago, Professor Kiyoshi Horikawa, who initially promoted the establishment of the cooperation between the two universities, sent a special message expressing his best wishes. Associate Professor Cui Yao from Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering introduced the cooperation between the two universities and gave an outlook on future cooperation. Li Xiaodan, Deputy Director of International Office of DUT and Professor Yasunao Matsumoto from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of SU introduced the policies of international exchange and cooperation between both universities respectively.
During the joint seminar, Prof. Li Hongnan from DUT and Prof. Hiroshi Mutsuyoshi from SU gave keynote presentations, and students and faculty from both sides conducted seminars in three sessions in the areas of “Structures and Materials”, “Water Environment and Transportation Planning”, and “Geotechnical and Disaster Prevention”. In the following day, students from both universities took part in the activity of Sakura Science Exchange Program, and discussed and reported on the course “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Civil Engineering” in groups.
