On the afternoon of April 17 (New York time), another exciting piece of news came from the United Nations Headquarters conference hall. The 15th delegation from Dalian University of Technology (DUT) to the National Model United Nations New York Conference (2025 NMUN) won the Outstanding Delegation Award as well as two Outstanding Position Paper awards. The conference brought together over 5,500 university students from 72 delegations across 69 countries and regions.
Held in New York from April 13 to 17, the 2025 NMUN featured a dedicated jury that evaluated participating delegations based on their performance, contributions, and achievements in committee sessions. Designated by the organizing committee, the DUT delegation represented Fiji and received high praise from both the committee and fellow delegates, making DUT the only university in Asia to win this prestigious award.
Notably, Shi Haoyu, a student from the School of Foreign Languages and the student leader of DUT’s 14th NMUN delegation, served as the Chair of the First Committee at this year’s conference, marking the first time a DUT student has held a leadership position in the NMUN Chairs.
Following the closing ceremony, the delegation visited the Consulate General of China in New York, where they gained valuable insights from outstanding Chinese diplomats.
Since 2007, when DUT first sent a delegation to the NMUN in New York, the university has dispatched 15 teams, all achieving outstanding results. DUT provides comprehensive support to its delegations, from selection and training to academic guidance during the conference, fostering a conducive environment for cultivating globally competent talent. Moving forward, the university will continue to offer students diverse international exchange opportunities, nurturing more outstanding individuals with global vision and competitiveness, and contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to addressing global challenges.
