Dalian University of Technology (DUT) launched its 2025 "Liu Changchun Cup" Athletics Games with a grand opening ceremony at the university stadium on May 17, Saturday morning, celebrating sportsmanship and youthful vitality.
Named in honor of Liu Changchun, China’s first Olympic athlete and a distinguished alumnus of DUT, the annual event brought together thousands of students, faculty, and staff for a day of spirited competition and camaraderie. The ceremony featured a marching parade of student teams, dynamic group performances, and the traditional torch-lighting ritual, symbolizing the university’s enduring commitment to athletic excellence.
"DUT has always emphasized the importance of holistic education, where physical fitness and academic growth go hand in hand," said a university representative. "The 'Liu Changchun Cup' not only honors our heritage but also inspires students to pursue perseverance and teamwork."
The two-day competition includes track and field events such as sprints, relays, long jump, and shot put, alongside fun team-based challenges to encourage broad participation.
As one of Northeast China’s leading universities, DUT continues to promote a healthy, active campus culture, with the games serving as a key highlight of its annual sporting calendar.
