Founded in 1991, the State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment (Dalian University of Technology) is oriented to conducting applied basic research on prediction of mechanical behavior, optimization, and research and development of core software of equipment structure under complex circumstances, integrated design and manufacturing of advanced materials and structures, and key mechanical issues in intelligent operation and maintenance of equipment, aiming at meeting China's crucial demands of structural innovation of equipment and independent, manageable research and development of CAE industrial software.
The Laboratory has two innovative research teams of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one innovation team of the Ministry of Education, and two sci-tech innovation teams working on national defense of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, with 113 permanent staff members, including threemembersof the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The director of the Laboratory is Prof. Li Gang, and the chairman of academic committee is Prof. Fang Daining, a CASmemberand professor of Beijing Institute of Technology.
The Laboratory mainly focuses on theories and methodsof computational mechanics and engineering and scientific computing; modern theories and calculation of optimum structural design; research, development and application of large-scale computational engineering software systems; experiments, analysis and evaluation of major engineering and industrial equipment structures in complex environments.
