Professor Kong Xianjing, elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2017, was formerly the Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Dalian University of Technology.
Professor Kongisdedicated to the theory and practice of seismic resistance in marine engineering. He has conducted theoretical, methodological and applied research in the fields of mechanism and countermeasures of seismic damage to earth and rock dams, static-dynamic characteristics and intrinsic model of dam materials, static-dynamic numerical analysis of earth and rock dams and other geotechnical structures, and seismic safety evaluation of nuclear power plant marine engineering. He presided over the development of the first large-scale underwater shaking table and ultra-large triaxial instrument (multi-scale series) test equipment in China and the development of a large-scale geotechnical engineering high-performance computing software platform. His research results have been applied to nearly 50 hydropower, nuclear power and water transportation engineering projects.
