Professor Shen Changyu was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009. He was the President of Zhengzhou University and Dalian University of Technology and is currently Director and Party Secretary of China National Intellectual Property Administration, Director of the National Engineering Research Centre for Rubber and Plastic Mould Technology and member of the Academic Advisory Committee of Dalian University of Technology.
Professor Shen, an expert in material forming and moulding technology, has long been engaged in theoretical, technological and numerical simulation research in the fields of polymer and composite material forming and processing and the optimal design and manufacturing of rubber and plastic moulds. He has presided over more than 30 national projects including the National Manned Space Program, the 973 Program, the NSFC Major, Key and Distinguished Young Scholar funded research projects. Professor Shen has developed spaceship pane featuring high impact resistance, radiation protection and spectral transmittance that has been successfully applied in Shenzhou VII rendezvous and docking.
