Professor Ou Jinping graduated from the then Department of Hydropower at Xiangtan University in 1978 and received his Master of Engineering degree in Structural Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology in 1983 and his Doctor of Engineering degree from the former Harbin University of Civil Engineering and Architecture in 1987 and worked in Harbin Institute of Technology and Dalian University of Technology successively. Professor Ou was elected asacademician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003.
Professor Ou’s research interests are structural disaster dynamic effects and vibration control, structural disaster evolution behaviour and integrity monitoring, new structural systems and performance design for disaster resistance and mitigation, etc. Some of nationally leading research results have been incorporated in national codes and regulations and applied to construction projects. He has served in the National Outstanding Young Scientists Fund Review Committee and as deputy head of Engineering Science Panel, and expert researcher (former deputy head of expert panel) in marine resources development technology of the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program).
