Zhong Wanxie

ProfessorZhong Wanxie graduated from Shanghai Tongji University with a degree in Bridge and Tunnel Engineering in July 1956 and in the same year, started working in the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 1962, he has been working at Dalian Institute of Technology (now Dalian University of Technology). In 1993, he was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Professor Zhong has extensive research experience in engineering mechanics and computational mechanics theories as well as algorithms and software and has achieved several world-class achievements. He is a world-leading researcher in computational mechanics and symplectic systems and a promotor of computational mechanics in China. Professor Zhong is one of the founders of the computational mechanics university programs and pioneers in advancing engineering design into the era of computational mechanics in China.
