Professor Qiu Dahong graduated from Tsinghua University in 1951 and was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991. He was the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, Director of the Academic Committee of Dalian University of Technology, and Chief Engineer of Dalian University of Technology Civil Engineering Survey and Design Institute. He has been a member of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council and the Discipline Review Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Professor Qiu has been engaged in marine engineering theoretical and experimental studies with a focus on ocean wave theory, and has achieved a number of world- and national-level results that promoted the disciplinary development of marine engineering, interaction between waves and offshore structures, and engineering applications of ocean wave theory.
